Blue Springs Post 499 Fike got a pair of strong pitching performances Wednesday, but only one resulted in a win.

Fike held off a late rally by the Sedalia Post 642 Travelers to claim a 5-4 win in the opener. Post 499, though, was unable to muster a run in a 3-0 loss in the nightcap of the American Legion Zone 2 baseball doubleheader at Hidden Valley Park.

Matthew McWilliams allowed just one unearned run on six hits and one walk while striking out three in five innings for the win in the first game.

Ross Greco and Kyle Gaines each went 2-for-4 with a triple, an RBI and a run to lead the offense. Scott Vestal also had two hits, an RBI and a run, and Crichton Hill and Aaron Jones each had a hit and an RBI.

Will Fisher allowed three runs on five hits in six innings to suffer the loss in the second game.

Greco, Gaines, Fisher, Vestal and Luke Moehle each had one hit for Fike, who moved to 17-7 overall and 7-1 in Zone 2 play.
