Blue Springs Post 499 Fike got its appearance in the Cream of the Crop Summer Showcase off to a strong start.

Fike collected 11 hits and Matthew McWilliams pitched five shutout innings in a 9-1 win over KC Select Friday afternoon at William Jewell College in Liberty.

McWilliams, who has signed with Wichita State, allowed just three hits and no walks and struck out eight for the win. Thadd Allen pitched the final inning.

Ross Greco led the way for the offense, going 3-for-4 with a double and three RBIs. Koby Powell added two hits, two runs and an RBI, Luke Moehle had two hits and Grant Lorenzen and Scott Vestal each had a hit and two runs as Post 499 improved to 20-7 overall.
