The Lee’s Summit Outlaws kept their hopes of a quarterfinal berth in the American Legion Wood Bat Invitational alive Thursday.

The Outlaws scored nine runs in the final four innings to pull away for a 10-3 victory over Lemay (Mo.) Post 162 in Pool C play Thursday at Blue Springs South High School.

Lee’s Summit had only five hits but capitalized on four Lemay errors and several walks to improve to 2-1 in pool play. The Outlaws meet Washington Post 218 (2-0) in a key pool play game at 12:30 p.m. today at Hidden Valley Park Field 3.

The Outlaws scored four runs in the fourth inning to break a 1-1 tie. After Lemay made it 6-3 in the fifth, the Outlaws added four more runs in the top of the seventh to pull away.

Jarrett O’Shaughnessy went the distance, striking out four and allowing six hits for the win.

Zane Ragland drove in three runs, Blake Marnholtz added a hit and an RBI and Jason Gonzalez had a hit and four walks to lead Lee’s Summit at the plate.

The winner of each of the five pools and three wild cards with the next best records advance to Saturday’s quarterfinals. The semifinals and championship are set for Sunday.
