The Blue Springs Rod’s Sports A’s broke out the bats to claim a doubleheader sweep of the Sedalia Post 642 Travelers Tuesday.

The A’s pounded out 12 hits in a 6-4 win in the first game and then knocked out 15 hits in a 12-1 win in the nightcap Tuesday night at Hidden Valley Park.

Tied 1-1 after two innings, the A’s scored three runs on four hits, a walk and a groundout in the third to take control in the first game.

Jake Lufft hit a home run and single, Zane Barr had three singles and two RBIs and Dustin Brewer tripled and singled to lead the A’s. C.J. July and Will Heller each added two hits.

July allowed just one run on three hits and four walks while striking out six in five innings for the win. Lufft snuffed out Sedalia’s seventh-inning rally for the save.

Barr and July (two RBIs) each had a double and two singles to lead the way in the second game, a five-inning win.

Consecutive hits by July (double), Heller and Colton Best (double) jump-started the A’s in the third inning.

In addition Jackson Caley (three RBIs), Anthony Gunn (double) and Heller added two hits each, while Best drove in three runs. Steven Orwick picked up the win with a five-inning complete game. He gave up five hits, no earned runs while striking out five and giving up just one walk as the A’s stayed unbeaten at 10-0 in Zone 2 play and improved to 27-5 overall.
