The Blue Springs South volleyball team got its season off to a strong start Saturday in the Bentonville (Ark.) Early Bird Tournament.

The Jaguars compiled a 5-1 record and captured third place in the tournament.

After falling 25-21, 25-20 to Jefferson City Helias Catholic in the semifinals, the Jaguars bounced back with a 25-16, 25-14 win over Conway (Ark.) Christian in the third-place match.

Blue Springs South also defeated Springdale (Ark.) Har-Ber (25-18, 25-21), Bentonville West (25-18, 25-21), Springdale Shiloh Christian (25-15, 25-10) and Springfield Kickapoo (28-26, 25-21).

Hannah LaPour tallied 40 kills and Meauna Booth had 39 in the tournament. Rylie Gregston amassed 42 digs and 153 assists and Makenzie Griffel had 38 digs and eight service aces.
