The William Chrisman boys soccer team is off to a nice start in 2018.
The Bears improved to 2-0 after a 2-0 victory against Lincoln Prep in the semifinals of the Winnetonka Tournament.
Chrisman will play the winner of the Excelsior Springs-Grandview semifinal in the championship game at 7 p.m. today.
Adam Hamilton and Joseph Salazar each scored a goal for the Bears. Marco Sagastume added an assist.
FORT OSAGE 7, RUSKIN 0: Fort Osage Jake Lammering showed why he was a second-team all-state forward last season.
He notched a hat trick, leading the offense to a win over the Eagles in the consolation semifinals of the Winnetonka Tournament Wednesday.
Dylan Stillwell, Justin Epperson and Brenson Crismon all had a goal each to help Fort Osage improve to 1-1 on the season.
LIBERTY NORTH 1, GRAIN VALLEY 0: The Eagles struggled to score against a senior-laiden Eagles squad as they fell Wednesday in the decisive game of the Harrisonville Invitational, a round robin tournament.
Dylan Posada scored the lone goal in the 48th minute for North. Grain Valley goalkeeper Bryant Madden notched five saves.
“Thought we played against a very good side,” said Grain Valley head coach Tyler Nichol, whose team fell to 1-1-1. “North is loaded with a big senior class and I think could make some noise in Class 4. We played tough the whole way and the only difference was a second half penalty kick. Good week for us in which we felt we learned a lot and took a couple steps forward.”
