An experienced William Chrisman girls tennis team was too much for a young Truman squad Thursday.

Tori Gant topped Samantha Fletcher 8-1 in their No. 1 match to spark a singles sweep by the Bears, who went on to a 9-0 victory at Santa Fe Trail Park.

"I was extremely proud of our girls today,” Chrisman coach Jason Grubb said. “Tori jumped up to No. 1 singles this season and the other five varsity girls got to see how tough Truman could be last year. They all came out very focused on winning clutch game points.”

Ally Cook (8-3), Nicole Eppert (8-2), Katie Schaefer (8-0), Izzy Jaynes (8-0) and Kiara Ashurst (8-0) completed the singles sweep for Chrisman.

Gant and Eppert topped Fletcher and Karla Lopez 8-3 in No. 1 doubles. The duos of Cook and Schaefer and Jaynes and Ashurst each won 8-0 to complete the shutout.

“In doubles Gant and Eppert won with consistent strokes and serves, while the Cook-Schaefer and Jaynes-Ashurst teams both put pressure on the Pats to avoid aggressive net play,” Grubb added.

Chrisman also won 9-0 in the junior varsity match.
