A pair of local runners captured titles in the Shawnee Mission South Harrier Kickoff Thursday.
Truman’s Stacy Briggs topped the girls field, while Blue Springs South’s Dillon Grover captured a win in the boys race on the 2-mile course at Johnson County Community College in Overland Park.
Briggs topped Olathe West’s Jenna Mullen with a time of 12 minutes, 32.56 seconds to lead the Patriots, who finished sixth in the team standings with 160 points.
Hailey Williams finished 35th for Truman in 15:18.78.
Grover prevailed in 10:17.38 to lead a pair of medalists for the Jaguars, who finished third as a team with 72 points behind Olathe South (35) and Olathe West (41). Truman finished sixth at 165.
Nate Henk took sixth in 10:33.17. Jackson Lile just missed a top-20 medal for South by finishing 21st in 11:03.00.
Justin Binnicker earned a medal for a 16th-place finish (10:54.01) to lead Truman. Nathan Lewis was 41st (11:33.08) for the Patriots.
