The Fort Osage volleyball team shrugged off a pair of losses to start the season and captured the title of the Holden Invitational Saturday.

After going 2-0-1 in pool play, the Indians topped St. Paul Lutheran of Concordia 25-17, 25-17 in the semifinal and Kansas City Lutheran 25-21, 25-14 in the final to claim the championship.

“The girls played well and we are pleased with the day’s performance,” Fort Osage coach Vanessa Gage said after her team improved to 4-2-1 overall.

Kendra Siefker knocked down 30 kills and Rachel Tharp and Aly Young each had 25 kills overall to lead the Indians. Ciera Cory dished 68 assists.

The Indians topped Lexington (26-24, 25-14), split with Harrisonville (18-25, 25-12) and beat host Holden (25-17, 25-15) in pool play.
