After a 6-0 win over Blue Springs earlier this season, Lee’s Summit North boys soccer coach Ryan Kelley thought his team might be ripe for a letdown in Wednesday’s second meeting.
The Broncos avoided that letdown and cruised to another 6-0 Suburban Big Six victory over the Wildcats Wednesday at Peve Stadium.
Ryan Templeton led the Broncos (9-4, 5-1 Big Six) with two goals.
“We wanted to make sure we avoided a letdown tonight,” Kelley said. “The first half we struggled with possessing the ball and with our touch. Blue Springs played with good purpose and took the match to us.”
Sean Ransburg, Carson Wilcox, AJ James and Parker Allen each added one goal as the Broncos pulled away. Tyler Dailey and Kyle Rock each had two assists.
Blue Springs fell to 7-10 overall and 1-5 in the conference.
“Going in to the second half we knew that we needed to be sharper and have more purpose in our attack to finish off the match,” Kelley said. “We started to get the ball forward more and played behind the back line of Blue Springs to create more chances. It was a strong second-half performance that will hopefully carry us into the final weeks of the regular season.”
PARK HILL SOUTH 4, TRUMAN 1: Host Park Hill South scored two goals in each half to send Truman to a Suburban Large Seven defeat Wednesday.
Korby Ring scored Truman’s lone goal in the second half after the Panthers had taken a 3-0 lead. The Patriots dropped to 5-8 overall and 2-6 in the conference.
PEMBROKE HILL 1, BLUE SPRINGS SOUTH 0: The Jaguars fell to 9-7 after a non-conference loss to the Raiders Wednesday.
South held a 18-2 edge in shots on goal, but couldn’t convert on its opportunities.
