The host Tigers scored three runs in the bottom of the seventh before Andrew Rider was able to close the door for the save.
Jacob Kisner allowed three runs in five innings for the win. Kyle Seithel had two doubles, while Keeston Terry added a triple for the Wildcats (8-6). Zac Butler added a double.
“I’m pleased with the way we played,” Wildcats coach Marc Hines said. “We hit the ball well in key situations. Kisner did a fantastic job. We made playes at the end to win it. We’re getting better each day.”
GRAIN VALLEY 5, ODESSA 3: When Payton Bosserman needed a strikeout, the Grain Valley starter was able to get it.
Bosserman struck out 15 Odessa hitters in six innings Wednesday, helping him escape several jams in a Missouri River Valley Conference West home win.
“He really pitched out of some jams,” Eagles coach Mark Lyford said. “He had runners in scoring positions and runners on third. When he needed to make a pitch, he made a quality pitch to get out of jams.”
David Richards homered again for the Eagles, hitting a two-run home run in the first inning for the second straight day.
Bosserman also had two hits for the Eagles (9-2, 4-1 MRVC West).
