Grain Valley, MO —

David Richards was good at the plate for Grain Valley Friday.
But teammate Payton Bosserman was better on the mound.
Bosserman threw a no-hitter, walking two and striking out seven in a 10-0 win over visiting Oak Grove in a Missouri River Valley Conference West home game.
Richards was 3-for-3 with three RBIs and a home run. Austin Gouldsmith and Ryan Skinner each had two hits for the Eagles (7-2, 2-1 MRVC West).
“Obviously (Bosserman) threw well today,” Eagles coach Mark Lyford said. “The biggest thing for him is he’s focusing on trusting his stuff. We continue to try to tell him to pound the strike zone. He did that early in the game. He trusts them more and is making an effort to cut down on the (walks).”
Jacob Horn took the loss for Oak Grove (1-10, 0-3 MRVC West).
“Grain Valley played an excellent game, and Bosserman threw a gem today,” Panthers coach Kirk Sears said. “Hopefully we are able to take a look at Coach Lyford’s club and learn some things about ourselves and the game of baseball.”
TRUMAN 4, WINNETONKA 3: The Suburban Big Six race has tightened.
James Hayes singled in Vinnie Smith from second base with two outs in the bottom of the eighth inning, giving the host Patriots a key win.
Truman and Oak Park – a 9-3 winner over William Chrisman Friday – share first place at 4-2 each. Park Hill South is 3-2 and Winnetonka 2-2.
Kyle Clifton overcame Jesse Horton’s tying home run in the top of the seventh in pitching a complete-game, six-hit victory.
“Clifton did a nice job,” Truman coach John Eglich said. “He didn’t allow another runner after the homer to keep us in the game.”
Smith walked to open the eighth and stole second base. After two outs, Ian Barker was intentionally walked, setting up Hayes’ winning hit.
BLUE SPRINGS 9, OLATHE EAST 4: Four errors proved costly as Blue Springs fell to Olathe East at CommunityAmerica Ballpark.
“I was disappointed in the way we played defense,” Blue Springs coach Marc Hines said. “It was the difference in the game. We will not beat a team giving away outs. I thought we were making progress but reverted tonight.”
Blue Springs (6-6) led 4-0 after two innings. Then East rallied for the win with three runs in the third inning, four in the fourth and two more in the sixth.
Greg Wisner singled three times in leading an eight-hit Blue Springs attack.
OAK PARK 9, WILLIAM CHRISMAN 3: Oak Park rode a 15-hit attack to a Suburban Big Six victory over visiting William Chrisman.
“We did a better job on  the base paths,” Chrisman coach Justin Woods said. “Korey Stucker did a great job. He was very active. Jo Jo Taisi pitched well and we let him down with an error and some misplays.”
Stucker singled twice, stole three bases and scored twice in pacing the Bears (1-11, 0-4).
Oak Park (6-4, 4-2) never looked back after taking a 5-0 lead after two innings. Bubba Dotson’s three-run led the attack.,
ST. PAUL’S 11, ST. MARY’S 7: Six errors led to eight unearned runs as St. Mary’s fell to St. Paul’s Lutheran of Concordia at Mill Creek Park.
“It was a tough loss,” St. Mary’s coach Will Rogers said.
The Trojans (5-3), who trailed 6-0 after three innings, had eight hits. Anthony Tovar and Mike Pocock each doubled with two RBIs. Jake Rau doubled, and James Newberry singled twice.
Newberry was the losing pitcher.
LEE’S SUMMIT NORTH 24, ST. JOSEPH CENTRAL 2: Brad Phillips pitched and batted Lee’s Summit North to an easy Suburban Big Seven victory.
Phillips scattered five hits in five innings for the win and went 5-for-5 at the plate with two doubles and five RBIs.
A 13-run second inning clinched the win for conference-leading Broncos (8-2, 4-0).
Caleb Cole had three hits with a solo homer and three RBIs, Gavin Stark two doubles and four RBIs and Dustin Ulrich two singles and a double and two RBIs.
“It was good to see the bats come alive,” North coach Jeff Diekmann said. “It was one of those days everything went well for us and not for them.”
