From 4-7 p.m. Saturday the Grain Valley Assistance Council will host the annual Silent Auction and Chili Supper at the Grain Valley High School on Southwest Eagles Parkway/Route AA. This is a wonderful opportunity to support the community while sharing a meal and getting to know others in the area.
Many unique items will be on display for silent auction bidding including gift baskets, which are great to have during the holidays for unexpected party gifts. One-of-a-kind art pieces will be offered during the live auction, beginning at 5 p.m. A handmade quilt will go home with one lucky bidder.
Each item sold will help fulfill dreams of area children young and not so young during this holiday season. Gifts will be purchased, wrapped and delivered to families whose Christmas may otherwise be barren.
Work off those calories for the evening during the cake walk. Winners will take the cake home for a midnight snack or Sunday afternoon dessert.
Tickets are $5 for adults and $2.50 for children 12 and under and includes a hot bowl of chili or soup, a drink and dessert. Mark your calendar for Saturday – the fundraising event will begin at 4 p.m. and end at 7 p.m. Silent auction tables open at 4 p.m. and live auction bidding is scheduled to begin at 5 p.m.
Don’t miss this community affair. It is the largest single means of funds for the Grain Valley Assistance Council. Proceeds will help those in need, and keep food pantry doors open during the cold winter months. Grain Valley High School is located at 551 S.W. Eagles Parkway/Route AA.
Wild ones
Wild ones are always welcome at Hannah’s Heart Art and Resource Center on Main Street. Sheree Foster – owner, mother, and Grain Valley resident – offers a wide variety of classes and tutoring. Both one-on-one and group sessions are available.
Foster recently hosted a Wild Ones party, inviting members of the community. The event was a big hit; the group took an adventure to see the movie. Fun was had by all of those attending – young and older.
Classes such as arts and crafts, music, dance, reading and math are offered for preschool up to sixth grade. Birthday parties and special craft activities for Scout, church or home school groups can also be arranged.
Hannah’s Heart Art and Resource Center is a nonprofit Christian based organization; scholarships are available to those who qualify. Call to reserve your next party or group event, discuss your needs and concerns with Ms. Sheree Foster at 816 847-0721.
