Truman coach Willis Blinzler was beside himself after the Truman boys tennis team took first place in the North Suburban Conference Tournament.

“This was a huge team victory,” he said. “We have attended this tournament for 15 plus years and this is first time that Truman came in first overall as a team. All six varsity players took medals. This is by far the toughest tournament we attend with great competition.

“Our real strength was shown in this tournament. I am really proud of the team. Everyone was playing at the top of their game.”

Mason Short was fifth in A singles and Matt Perry and David Franklin third in A doubles. Zach Felz was second in B singles as were Brett Fredenberg and Andy Muelleman in B doubles.

BLUE SPRINGS 8, PLATTE CITY 1: Blue Springs honored five seniors with the  nonconference victory.

“It was a good warm-up match for Blue Springs South (today),” Blue Springs coach Jody McClain said.
