Dan Noud made sure the Blue Springs boys tennis team didn’t need any doubles contributions Monday.
The Blue Springs senior rallied from a 5-2 deficit in the third set of his No. 3 singles match against Lee’s Summit’s Bailey Reed and earned a 7-5 victory to cap the Wildcats’ 5-1 Class 2 District 14 triumph at Young Park.
Noud was one of six Blue Springs players to garner singles wins, although only five were needed to record an official victory. Max Martell bested Dan McElroy 7-5, 6-2; Ashton Rhodes clipped Greg Jochems 6-2, 6-1; Chad Stohlmann knocked off Graham Sims 6-0, 6-2 and Andy Anderson topped Connor Groefe 6-0, 6-3.
Blue Springs coach Jody McClain called Noud’s comeback “amazing” and added that the senior has made a habit of providing decisive decisions for the Cats this season.
“If anyone on my team can come back from down 5-2 it’s Dan Noud,” she said.
The win bolsters the Cats’ record to 15-8-2 and pushes them into the semifinals, where they’ll meet rival Blue Springs South (12-3) at 4 p.m. today.
