There’s no stopping the Truman girls basketball team.
Becca Jonas had 13 points and 16 rebounds, including five offensive, and Ashley Guenther 22 points and eight rebounds in sparking the unbeaten Patriots to a 61-35 victory Thursday night at Staley.
Kayla Harrell added 14 points as Truman improved to 6-0 in defeating a solid Staley team for the second time within nine days. The other win was 73-43 on Nov. 28 in the Lee’s Summit North Tournament.
“It was a good quality win on the road,” Truman coach Steve Cassity team. “It’s tough to play a team twice. We had a really good rebounding effort. We did a good job holding them to one shot.”
Guenther missed tying her career high by one point.
Truman owned a safe 34-19 halftime lead as Staley fell to 3-2.
RICHMOND 46, OAK GROVE 41: Oak Grove couldn’t retain a 21-19 halftime lead in falling to Richmond in a consolation-bracket game in the Husker Shootout.
Richmond outscored the Panthers 14-8 in the third quarter to pull ahead 33-29 and taking the lead for keeps.
Jordyn Anspach and Easton Harmon each scored 15 points for the Panthers (1-4).
Oak Grove faces Lexington at 6 tonight in the seventh-place game.
