Three Blue Springs South wrestlers clinched championships within their weight brackets as the Jaguars finished fourth out of 14 teams in Saturday’s North Kansas City Tournament.

Dalton Kenig (106 pounds), Sam Hampton (113) and Christian Boyles (195) posted 5-0 marks on the way to first-place finishes. Wyatt Parker went 4-1 and finished second at 182 and Savon Alexander (120), Trey Storey (138) and Cole West (285) each finished third with 4-1 records.

“The team did about as good as they could have done being shorthanded for numbers,” South coach Doug Black said. “... Having seven of the 10 places in the top three and three champs in the tournament is decent and would probably take that any time except we have plenty of room for improvement that needs to be made.”

BUTLER INVITATIONAL: Sawyer Meese led St. Mary’s with a second-place finish at 285 as the Trojans took 10th as a team.
