Although the Blue Springs South wrestling team pulled out a 49-30 Suburban Big Six Conference win at Lee’s Summit on Wednesday, Jaguars coach Doug Black wasn’t real happy about it.

“I thought that the kids would come out with a sense of urgency tonight,” Black said. “And it was not there. They came out flat as they could be. All that goes back on me as the head coach to get these kids ready to go.”

Jaguar winners were 120-pounder Sam Hampton, who pinned Alan Olivas; Wyatt Parker (182), who picked up an 18-6 major decision over Nick Propst; Chirstian Boyles (220), who edged Ali’l Loyola 5-1 and Cole West (285), who pinned Theo Propst.

South also received five wins via forfeit.

“The kids have got to realize now that it being the middle of January, they have to wrestle for a six-minute match,” Black said. “And nothing less is acceptable.”

ST. MARY’S LOSES PAIR: The St. Mary’s High School wrestling team dropped a pair of duals Tuesday.

The Trojans fell 33-6 to Mid-Buchanan and 60-12 to Plattsburg. St. Mary’s only wins came by forfeit, with Hunter Soule (220 pounds) winning in both matches and Shelton Martin (160) winning against Plattsburg.
