Blue Springs is a victory closer to the Suburban Big Six volleyball title.

Kourtney Thompson had 31 assists and three kills, Holly Tarvin added seven kills and Melissa Butrum served three aces to lead the host Wildcats (16-5, 7-0) past Lee’s Summit 25-13, 25-12 Thursday night.

“It was a good team win,” Blue Springs coach Katie Grusing said.

Emily Gutierrez had eight kills, Elissa Knipp four kills and Hailey Criswell two solo blocks and one assisted block for the Tigers (8-14-2, 0-8).

MARANATHA ACADEMY 25-25-16-22-15, ST. MARY’S 7-21-25-25-10: Host Maranatha held on to hand the Trojans their first Crossroads Conference loss Thursday night.

“We didn’t start playing until the third game,” St. Mary’s coach Krista Daniels said. “It’s tough to come back after losing the first two games.”

Alexis Sirna had 12 kills, Arielle Alaiwat posted nine kills, Rachel Graef had eight kills and Mariel Sanders had 32 digs to lead the Trojans (9-9-2, 6-1).

GRANDVIEW 25-25, VAN HORN 14-13: Host Grandview was an easy nonconference winner Thursday night. Van Horn dropped to 5-15.

Van Horn fell 25-18, 25-13 in the junior varsity match.
