The St. Mary’s volleyball team defeated rival Van Horn to clinch second place in the Crossroads Conference.

The visiting Trojans held off the Falcons 25-20, 25-20 Thursday night.

“The first game we came out strong,” St. Mary’s coach Krista Daniels said. “In the second game we were down 10-7 and Arielle Alaiwat served 13 points in a row to give us the lead for good. We kept our composure and finished off the match.”

And the Trojans improved to 10-10-2 overall and finished second in the conference at 7-1.

The Trojans posted a 25-11, 25-16 junior varsity victory.

Van Horn and the Trojans participate in the conference tournament Saturday at Maranatha Academy.
