“Megan Epping, our libero, passed well in service receive,” Grain Valley coach Keri Peterson said.

Grain Valley also took the junior varsity match 25-19, 25-17.

VAN HORN 25-17-25, CENTER 26-17-12: Senior leadership sparked Van Horn (3-6) to the nonconference victory.

“Two seniors, Stephanie Smith and Kelsey Edwards, stepped up,” Van Horn coach Taisha Newcomer said. “They played very well. We needed some senior leadership and I thought they played well tonight.”

BLUE SPRINGS 25-25, LEE’S SUMMIT 13-16: Blue Springs remained undefeated in the Suburban Big Six at 3-0 with the victory at Lee’s Summit.

Bri Starr had six kills and Holly Tarvin five kills to pace the Wildcats (7-3, 3-0). Lee’s Summit fell to 3-6 and 0-3 despite Shelby Wagner’s four kills and two aces.

LIBERTY 25-26, BLUE SPRINGS SOUTH 21-24: Mistakes cost the Jaguars in the Suburban Big Six loss at Liberty.

“We put up a great defensive effort, but too many mistakes and hitting errors did them in against a good offensive Liberty team,” South coach Dave McLean said.

“Bright spots for our team include a strong defensive effort in the back row and with serve receive,”

Mia Swanegan had 11 kills and one block, Breeanna O’Sullivan 22 assists and three digs and Julia Towler nine kills, two blocks and one dig to pace South (4-6, 1-2).

LEE’S SUMMIT NORTH 25-25, PARK HILL 14-13: Visiting Lee’s Summit North improved to 4-1 with the nonconference victory.
