If you have procrastinated and not purchased your ticket for the Missouri Mavericks home opener at 7 p.m. Friday against the Wichita Thunder, at the Events Center, you’re in luck.
The event is “sold out,” but 100 tickets that belong to the arena will be released at 10 a.m. Friday at the Events Center box office.
“Friday is basically sold out, but the Events Center is releasing 100 loge tickets,” said Mavericks vice president of communications Patrick Armstrong. “The tickets are $34 and are located in the end zone area. They’re great seats.”
Armstrong also said that there are less than 1,000 tickets available for Saturday night’s contest, which is also against the Thunder.
The 2-7 Mavericks defeated the Thunder in Wichita on October 30 and 31 where the Central Hockey League’s newest team outscored the Thunder by a combined score of 8-1.
Missouri is led by Chad Hinz who has 10 points in nine games and leads the team with four goals.
Mavericks goalkeeper Doug Groenestege recorded both wins against the Thunder, including a 2-0 shutout that earned him the Oakley Award as the CHL’s Goaltender of the Week. He is 8-0 in his career against the Thunder.
