Missouri Mavericks forward Kenton Miller has been recalled by the team’s American Hockey League affiliate, the Chicago Wolves. The move came following the end of the NHL lockout over the weekend.

Miller is among the rookie leaders in scoring and goals as he ranks fifth among all rookies with 23 points and his 12 goals is tied for third among first-year players. Miller is third on the Mavericks in points and tied for second on the team in goals.

“Kenton is very deserving of this call-up,” Mavericks coach Scott Hillman said. “He is a top rookie in this league and he is maturing very quickly. Kenton has learned a lot from the great veteran players on this team and Simon Watson has spent a lot of one-on-one time with him working on specific skill areas to better his game. We wish Kenton great success in Chicago.”

MAVERICKS SIGN PERRIN: The Mavericks signed defenseman Jesse Perrin and waived defenseman Kyle Atkins on Saturday. The Mavericks received the rights to Perrin as part of the future considerations in the trade that sent Brian Bicek and Matt McCready to the Arizona Sundogs in exchange for Kyle Hood and future considerations. This move completed the trade.

“Jesse Perrin is an elite, stay-at-home defenseman who will significantly bolster our blue line,” Mavericks president and general manager Brent Thiessen said. “As we continue to build our roster for not only the present, but for a playoff push, we believe he will be a big asset to our organization.”
