McCall Christopher saved her best for last.
The Lee’s Summit North High School golfer fired a 5-over-par 77 Thursday – one of the best rounds of the day – to finish ninth in the girls division at the American Junior Golf Association’s Lockton Kansas City Junior at The National Golf Club.
Christopher, who will be a senior at North this fall, had the fourth-best score in the final round. She totaled 241 over the three-round, 54-hole event after shooting 84 and 80 in the first two rounds.
Lauren Salazar of Santa Clara, Calif., held off fellow Californian Courtney Hooton to win the girls division with a 224 total.
Chloe Kittle, who will be a junior at Lee’s Summit North, shot 87 in the final round to finish with a 263 total, good enough for 18th overall.
In the boys division, recent Raytown South graduate Jimmy Thode shot 86 in his final round to finish at 264. Christopher Reinert of Parkville shot his second straight 2-under 70 to claim the boys title, edging Curtis Yonke of Overland Park, Kan., and Kyle Lewis of Shawnee, Okla., by one stroke.
