The Missouri Department of Conservation is holding a deer and turkey management workshop from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, Oct. 13, at Burr Oak Woods Conservation Area in Blue Springs.
Topics include: creating a natural food plot using woodland thinning methods to enhance plant diversity and cover; establishing and maintaining native grasses; edge management; food plots; invasive species control; deer population and herd health.
The workshop will begin in the Burr Oak Woods Nature Center and conclude with a 1 1/2-mile hike through restored woodlands, savannahs and prairie plantings.
