Welcome to my nutrition and fitness column.
My name is Kurt Mueller, and I’m the owner/operator of Blue Springs Fitness on North Missouri 7 Highway in Blue Springs. I have owned Blue Springs Fitness for the last three years, and we have completely renovated the facility in that time, and am proud to offer the best fitness center in the area.
To let you know a little about myself, I was born and raised in Blue Springs. I have actually lived in the same house for 31 years. I graduated from Blue Springs South High School in 1996, and attended college at Missouri State University, where I earned a B.S. degree in finance.
I have been a member of Blue Springs Fitness since it opened 16 years ago. My family purchased the 40th membership sold at the club.  I am now married to my beautiful wife Nikki Mueller, who owns and operates Studio 7 Hair Design (salon) located next to Blue Springs Fitness. Nikki just gave birth to our precious twin girls, Falon and Rylee, on Feb. 20 of this year.
Our lives are very hectic with running our businesses and taking care of the twins, but we enjoy every minute of it.
In the midst of having the babies, I competed in my first bodybuilding contest in July of 2008. I placed third in the Lightweight Division at the Missouri State Bodybuilding Championships.
My column will consist mostly of nutrition and training advice that everybody can use. If you are eager to read and learn more between writings, I also have a Fitness Blog on our Web site that contains more information. The address is www.bluespringsfitness.net and you can click my “Fitness Blog” link on the front page of the site to access it.
You may also use the Web site to send e-mails with questions or ideas you would like to see me cover in future columns. I will do my best to clear any misconceptions that are floating around, as well as bring you cutting-edge ideas and theories.
I’m very thankful to have the ability, through The Examiner, to reach as many people as I can.  Proper nutrition and training is a passion of mine, and I now have the ability to share my knowledge on a grander scale.
Being a gym owner and trainer, I hear a lot of bad information and advice given to good people who are trying to make a positive change in their lives. Even if you don’t become a member of Blue Springs Fitness, this column now gives me the opportunity to reach you and hopefully steer you in the right direction.
My goal is to help as many people improve their health and quality of life as possible.
I’m really looking forward to the coming months, and hope that you follow my column each month to hopefully improve your health.  Feel free to e-mail me any questions or ideas, and I will be more than happy to respond directly, or use your question in a future column. Stay tuned for a happier, healthier you!
