Albert Pujols is gone from St. Louis, but the former Cardinals star still has his Pujols Family Foundation in the Gateway City. Now, it is about to expand to Kansas City and two other areas.
The foundation primarily serves people with Down syndrome. The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports that foundation officials plans to start operations by the end of the year in Kansas City, Nashville and Southern California.
Pujols went to Fort Osage High School and now plays for the Los Angeles Angels. The Nashville connection wasn't immediately clear.
Pujols and his wife, Deidre, started the foundation seven years ago in honor of their daughter, Bella, who has Down syndrome.
The foundation also funds anti-poverty, medical and youth baseball programs in Pujols’ native Dominican Republic.
