One of the highlight prep sporting events this holiday season takes place Saturday at the Independence Events Center, the site of the I-Town Showdown.

The Truman, William Chrisman, St. Mary's and Van Horn boys and girls basketball teams will compete at a venue that will allow fans to watch the game in comfort, without arriving hours before the game to assure themselves of getting a ticket.

“It's the perfect place for an event like this,” Truman activities director Eric Holm said. “The kids really look forward to playing at the Events Center and the staff at the Events Center is great to work with.”

Chrisman activities director Dan Ogle added, “The best thing about playing these games at the Events Center is that everyone who wants to see one of the biggest games of the season can be assured of getting a ticket and a great seat.
“There isn't a bad seat in the Events Center.”

Van Horn and St. Mary's girls kick off the event at noon, followed by the Falcons and Trojans boys teams at 1:30 p.m.
The Truman and Chrisman girls play at 3 p.m. and the boys follow at 4:30.
