The Blue Springs South wrestling team produced mixed results in the Jaguars’ own tournament Saturday.

As a team, the Jags placed seventh at the Blue Springs South Tournament with Sam Hampton (113 pounds) leading the way with a second-place finish and 6-1 record.

Dalton Kenig went 5-2 and claimed third place at 106 and Wyatt Parker (182, 4-3) and Christian Boyles (195, 4-2) notched fourth-place finishes.

“We had an up and down weekend for the last tournament of the year,” South wrestling coach Doug Black said. “Some guys are holding themselves back and are tentative to put it all on the line and compete hard for six minutes, and that is just unacceptable.”

LIBERTY INVITATIONAL: William Chrisman totaled 152 points to finish sixth in the 15-team field Saturday while Fort Osage (67.5) ended 10th.

Chrisman’s Tomasi Tuione registered five pins and then topped Cape Girardeau Central’s Chris Bryant 5-3 for a 285-pound title. Larry Danforth added a third-place mark at 106; Josh Wallace was fourth at 170; and Derek Williams finished fifth at 126 for the Bears.

Fort Osage received a pair of second-place efforts as Jeremiah Reynolds finished as the runner-up at 106 and Carter Behler was second at 113.

WEST PLATTE INVITATIONAL: Sawyer Meese of St. Mary’s racked up three pins on the way to a first-place finish in the 285-pound bracket Saturday. Hunter Soule (220, 1-3) and Shelton Martin (1-4) both took fourth in their divisions.
