Tyonna Snow is starting to make the same kind of impact for the Missouri State women’s basketball team that she did throughout her prep career at Blue Springs High School.
The 2012 Examiner Player of the Year was named the Missouri Valley Conference’s Newcomer of the Week on Monday after setting a school record for free throws made in a game (18), while averaging 19.5 points, 6.5 rebounds, five steals, 2.5 steals and 1.5 blocks in victories over Southern Illinois and Evansville last week.
In Thursday’s 81-74 win over Southern Illinois, Snow went 18 for 26 from the charity stripe, while tallying 29 points, seven steals, six boards and a pair of assists and blocks. Her seven steals tied for the No. 8 single-game total in MSU history.
In Saturday’s 66-63 triumph over Evansville, Snow registered 10 points to go with seven rebounds, three steals, three assists and a block.
