Tony Wrisinger, the prep sports pioneer who has broadcast Blue Springs and Blue Springs high school football games the past 16 years, received the Missouri Community College Association's News Media Award at the association's 48th annual convention in Kansas City.
The award was presented in recognition of Wrisinger's work with Metropolitan Community College-Blue River’s campus participation with Sideliner Sports' Sonic Locker Room and Positively Blue Springs programs.
The Sonic Locker Room, which features 16 area- and metro-wide high schools, has been honored by the Missouri Broadcast Association. Wrisinger co-hosts the show with The Examiner's Bill Althaus.
The programs have featured Blue River's performing arts and athletics programs and have included interviews with students, faculty, staff and administrators.
The Missouri Community College Association is a statewide organization through which Missouri's community colleges work together to advance common agendas. There are 5,700 junior college students in the MCCA network.
