The Blue Springs South volleyball team is back to the .500 mark.

The visiting Jaguars rode blocking and defense to a 25-18, 25-18 nonconference victory Tuesday night at O’Hara.

Julia Towler had 14 kills and two blocks, Mia Swanegan 10 kills, one ace and two blocks and Breeanna O’Sullivan posted 27 assists to lead a balanced performance.

“We’ve played pretty consistent for two matches in a row,” South coach Dave MacLean said. “Our offense was really strong but when it sputtered our defensive growth is what really helped us to separate.”

O’Hara took the junior varsity match 25-18, 25-17.

SHERWOOD 25-25-25, VAN HORN 10-12-16: Host Sherwood was too much for the Falcons (5-14, 2-5) in a Crossroads Conference match Tuesday night.

Sherwood also took the junior varsity match 25-27, 25-13, 25-10.

BELTON 17-25-25, WILLIAM CHRISMAN 25-20-19: Belton rallied from an opening-set loss to stun host William Chrisman in a Suburban Middle Seven match Tuesday night.

The Bears dropped to 10-10 overall and into a third-place conference tie with Belton at 4-4.

The junior varsity match also went to Belton 25-23, 25-20.

RAYTOWN SOUTH 25-22-25, FORT OSAGE 19-25-17: Asia Cole’s 12 kills and Lynn Siefker’s seven weren’t enough to lift the visiting Indians (3-15-2) in a nonconference loss to the Cardinals Tuesday night.

“Siefker also served and received very well,” Fort Osage coach Sean Barrett said. “In the third game we fell apart and had some mental breakdowns. We have to find a way to get through a match.”

LEE’S SUMMIT NORTH 25-25, RAYMORE-PECULIAR 15-18: Lee’s Summit North (17-5-1, 7-2) kept its slim Suburban Big Six title hopes alive with the home victory Tuesday night.

North claimed the junior varsity match 25-19, 25-20.
