The MCC-Blue River men’s soccer team improved to 2-0-1 with a 3-0 victory over the Rockhurst University junior varsity Friday.

“It was a good preparation for Coffeyville Community College (Tuesday) and a nice opportunity to test ourselves against future Rockhurst Division II players,” Blue River coach David Owens said. “The Rockhurst team was made primarily of their freshmen, and it was a good early season matchup.”

Jeremie Sagastume, a William Chrisman graduate, scored the first Blue River goal on Cris Quetzecua’s assist.

Beto Alvarez, a Blue Springs South grad, scored the second goal off an assist from Christian Horne, and Jaime Alvarez, another Blue Springs South grad, scored the third goal on an assist from Justin Schaeffer.
