With Blue Springs graduate Dom Bradley leading the way, the University of Missouri wrestling team showed it stacks up well against some of the best teams in the nation by claiming third place in the Southern Scuffle Wednesday in Chattanooga, Tenn.
Bradely secured the heavyweight championship while the sixth-ranked Tigers finished third with 147.5 points, just behind No. 1 Penn State (178.5) and second-ranked Oklahoma State (158) and a spot ahead of No. 3 Minnesota.
In the heavyweight final, Bradley improved to a team-best 22-0 by downing Minnesota’s Tony Nelson, a defending national champion, in a tiebreaker for a 2-1 decision. The loss snapped a 40-match winning streak for Nelson.
