Taylor Blan, the lone senior on the William Chrisman wrestling team, picked up a victory on senior night. But it wasn’t enough to lift the Bears past St. Joseph Central as the Indians squeaked out a 36-35 victory at William Chrisman High School.
Blan’s victory came in a 10-2 major decision in the 182-pound bout. Larry Danforth (106), Tomasi Tuione (285) and Louis West (138) picked up wins by pin. Josh Wallace earned a 10-1 major decision at 170 and Dustin Cikan registered a 3-2 double overtime decision at 195.
“It was great for Taylor to get a win on senior night,” Chrisman coach Mick Cronk said. “He’s our only senior and that’s a really good deal for him. ... All in all, a one-point loss, we had several opportunities to make it up and just didn’t get it done.”
