Blue Springs South girls swimming and diving coach Errich Oberlander was satisfied.

His Jaguars, despite missing their divers, took second in the Raytown/Raytown South Invitational Saturday, totaling 262 points to finish behind Park Hill South’s 309.

“Nice meet for us, especially considering we didn’t take our divers and we were pretty tired from a long week of morning and afternoon workouts,” Oberlander said.

Emily Zweerink claimed two of the Jaguars’ four individual event wins. The senior blazed to a win in the 50-yard freestyle in 25.55 seconds and edged teammate Morgan Connors in the 100 freestyle in 56.45 seconds.

Connors also won the 200 freestyle by nearly four seconds, beating out teammate Anna Munoz with a time of 2:04.89. Kayla Canon captured first in the 100 backstroke in 1:04.55 and ninth in the 100 breaststroke.

Bailey Barnett also had a pair of top-10 finishes for South, taking second in the 500 freestyle and fifth in the 200 freestyle. Munoz also was sixth in the butterfly. Kailey Paris and Sydney Dillon also claimed a pair of top-10 finishes.

Zweerink, Canon, Connors and Alexis Kulash also took second in the 200 medley relay in 1:59.86. Zweerink, Munoz, Barnett and Connors were second in the 400 freestyle relay in 3:53.75.
