The William Chrisman wrestling team split its double dual and made some positive strides Tuesday night.
The Bears topped Ruskin 72-12 and lost to Belton 35-32 at Belton High School.
Against Ruskin, Larry Danforth (106 pounds), Derek Williams (126), Louis West (138), Justin Dewick (145), Tyler Selemaea (160) and Taylor Blann (182) scored pins for the Bears’ victories against Ruskin.
Against the Pirates, Williams and Wallace registered pins while Andrew Bennett (132) and Blann picked up major decisions and Dewick and Tomasi Tuione (285) earned decisions.
“I liked the way we competed and hopefully we can keep improving going into this weekend at the Oak Grove Tournament,” Bears coach Mick Cronk said.
HARRISONVILLE 36, GRAIN VALLEY 35: The Eagles came up just short in their Missouri River Valley Conference dual Tuesday night at Harrisonville.
Keith Jenkins (120), Angel Hernandez (132) and Cody Paxton (285) garnered pins for Grain Valley while Harrison Bamman (106) and Mavrick Alexander recorded major decisions and Tyler Meredith posted a decision at 152.
