The Fort Osage wrestling team scored a tight Suburban Middle Seven victory over Raytown on Tuesday night.

The Indians used seven pins to earn a 42-34 verdict at Raytown High School. Herman Tapusoa (220 pounds), Chris Bartlett (285), Samuel Farmer (126), Jesse Jeffries (132), Jesse Reser (138), Bruce Richardson (152) and Jacob Reynolds all won by fall to lead Fort.

LEE’S SUMMIT WEST 48, BLUE SPRINGS SOUTH 27: The Jaguars took a step back in Tuesday night’s dual at Lee’s Summit West.

“The bottom line is we have got to be able to wrestle hard for six minutes and we are not getting it done as a whole and it’s costing us winnable matches,” South coach Doug Black said.

Christian Findley did notch a dramatic win for the Jags at 106 pounds. Trailing by five points going into the final period, Findley rallied and registered a pin of Shane Knox. Christian Boyles added another pin of Marcel Mansfield at 220 and Trey Storey snared a 9-4 decision over Steffon Fassettat 138. South also took three wins via forfeit.

On Saturday, South came in sixth in Saturday’s 12-team Columbia Hickman Tournament. Sam Hampton (113) and Boyles (195) posted 7-0 records to win inidividual crowns. Cole West claimed third at 285 with a 5-2 mark.

“Kind of an up and down weekend for the kids,” Black said. “Not particularly happy with the overall finish as a team. Pretty tough tournament going in and we see what improvements we need to make for the stretch run.”
