5:29 p.m. -- Keenan Hagerty is one step closer to realizing his dream

The Blue Springs sophomore just grabbed a 5-4 decision in the finals to win the 125-pound state title in Class 4.

Hagerty told me yesterday his goal was to be the next three-time state champ for Blue Springs.

With two of the three in attendance - Tyler Hubbard and Dom Bradley - Hagerty got it done, keeping Fort Zumwalt West’s Taylor Bolin down through the third period, despite a series of roll attempts by Bolin.

“I wasn’t letting go,” Hagerty said. “It wasn’t happening. I wasn’t going to give that up.”

A big win for Blue Springs in two ways. The Wildcats get points and make up ground on Fort Zumwalt West, which is 0-2 so far in the finals with two more to go.

Blue Springs has three more, including Luke Greco on the mat now.

Will update when he’s done.
