10:55 a.m. -- Langdon Wheeler’s hopes of being top three at state have gone.

Wheeler lost in triple overtime, 5-4, to Sean Kennedy of Francis Howell Central.

Wheeler was absolutely dead at the end of the match and nearly used up all his injury time, but couldn’t escape in double overtime. A stall call against Kennedy in the final four seconds tied the match again and sent it to the third overtime, but Wheeler couldn’t keep Kennedy on the mat.

Meanwhile, Oak Grove and Blue Springs are doing what they need to in this round.

Mauricio Garcia of Blue Springs (112) grabbed a win over Trevor Brown of Park Hill South.

Both Oak Grove wrestlers - Caleb Titus (125) and Kodie Morgason (130) earned wins. But since Morgason earned a major decision over Jon Booker of Platte County, the Panthers are now a point ahead of the Pirates, who were in third place entering the day.

We still have Chrisman’s Matt Wheaton (160) on the way, as well as Oak Grove’s Dylan Meisenheimer (171) and Riley Glasgow (215).

Meanwhile, Lewis Foutz of Blue Springs (189) is still on the way too.
