Pleasant Hill, MO —

Youth was served by the Blue Springs South and Truman girls golf teams in the Raymore-Peculiar Scramble Tournament.
South totaled 194 in placing 13th and a junior varsity Truman team was 19th with 232 at the par-71 The Quarry course at Country Creek Golf Club Tuesday.
Each school entered three two-player teams. The low two team scores determined the team’s finish.
Emily Carter and Amanda Sinclair combined to post a 91 and Angie Pi and Carrie Landes teamed to shoot 103 to lead South.
“The girls are working hard,” South coach Mike McGown said. “It was the first tournament to compete in. Three of our players were freshmen. I am very proud of the girls. Carter and Sinclair had a pretty good day.”
Roetta Kremer and Ashley Stowell totaled 112 and Jennifer Young-Powell and Brandi Saluto 120 in leading Truman.
“I am pleased with the progress they have made so far,” Truman coach Becky Costello said. “It was their first high school match and we want to get them in a fun team event and see what the high school competition was like. They are learning very quickly.”
