The Blue Springs Fireballs, a 10-and-under ASA Class A girls fast-pitch softball team, claimed third place in the Northern Nationals in South Bend, Ind., July 30 through Aug. 3. The Fireballs finished 4-3 in the 13-team event, falling to the eventual champion, the Platte City Monarchs, in the semifinals.
