North Little Rock, ARK —

The Kansas City Wizards Juniors got a good look at their opponent for Sunday’s national championship game in the U.S. Youth Soccer National Championships.
The Wizards Juniors played the North Texas Solar 89 team they will face in the final to a 1-1 deadlock on Friday in the final round of pool play in the U19 boys division.
The Wizards Juniors features Blue Springs South High School graduate Ian Christenson and Blue Springs High School graduates Chase McCoy and Tyler Nichol.
Kelly Porter scored in the 20th minute to give Kansas City a 1-0 lead, but Alex Chi of Solar 89 scored in the 45th minute to tie it.
It stayed that way for the rest of the game, which was a warmup for Sunday’s final. Both teams had already clinched a spot in the championship with a pair of wins over Colorado Rush Nike and Freestate United of Maryland.
The Wizards Juniors meet Solar 89 at 10:45 a.m. Sunday for the James P. McGuire Cup, which was first awarded to the U19 boys champion in 1935.
