Several area American Legion baseball teams will be conducting tryouts soon.
Independence Post 21 will hold tryouts for those born in 1992, 1993, 1994, and 1995 from 9 to 11 a.m. July 31 and 1 to 3 p.m. Aug. 1 at Santa Fe Trail Park.
Players must attend Truman High School or reside in the Truman school district.

• The Blue Springs Rod’s Sports Athletics will hold their tryouts at 4 p.m. Aug. 7-8 and Aug. 14-15 at Blue Springs High School. Call Mike Rooney, 289-3153 or 220-2315, for more information.
• The Independence Jerry’s Sports Bears will conduct tryouts for their senior and junior teams on Aug. 14 at Independence Athletic Complex and Aug. 15 at Santa Fe Trail Park, starting at 9 a.m. both days.
Players attending or who will attend William Chrisman, St. Mary’s or Van Horn high schools or live in close proximity are eligible. Players must be age 15 through 19 between Jan. 1 and Dec. 31 in 2011.
