It was a easy for host Blue Springs South in the opening round of the Class 2 District 15 tournament.
Courtney Codilla and Kelly Gardner each scored three goals in guiding the Jaguars past Hickman Mills 10-0 Monday. Sharaya Sidebottom had two goals and one assist and Peri Irwin one goal and two assists in also playing key roles in the win as South evened its record at 9-9.
The game was stopped at halftime because of the mercy rule. Kirstie Warren didn’t have to make a save for the shutout.
“Hickman Mills is struggling and we tried to work on what we could,” South coach Todd Findley said. “We will face a tough test tomorrow in Blue Spring (at 7 p.m. today). They have beaten us twice and have been the better tea. We need to see if we can give them a game.”
LEE’S SUMMIT NORTH 5, RAYMORE-PECULIAR 2: Morgan Marlborough took matter into her own hands.
She scored all five goals as Lee’s Summit North stopped Raymore-Peculiar in the Class 2 District 13 semifinals at Lee’s Summit West Monday night.
North (18-3) coasted after taking a 4-0 halftme lead.
“We had to fight through a tough and pesky Raymore-Peculiar team,” North coach Tim Richardson said. “They showed a lot of spirit and fought hard. We are looking forward to Lee’s Summit on Wednesday (at 6 p.m. in finals).
Lee’s Summit (20-1-1) bested Lee’s Summit West (18-5) 4-3 in overtime in Monday’s other semifinal game.
