Post 499/Fike remains hot

Blue Springs Post 499/Fike rolls on.
Winning pitcher Alex Worman and Sam Morman combined for a five-hitter and seven strikeouts and walked none as Fike posted a 10-2 nine-inning non-district victory over Higginsville Post 223 Thursday night at Hidden Valley Park.
Fike had 11 hits in the game played with wood bats. Derek Cox had three singles, Josh Hightower and Anthony Dutcher added two singles each, Stephen Montisano doubled and singled, Alex White doubled and tripled and Danny McMurtrey added a triple.
The win was the 14th in the last 16 games for Fike, improving its record to 21-17.
Fike coasted after taking 4-0 lead after four innings.
“The team is playing well at this point,” Fike manager Jim Moran said. “When your pitchers don’t walk anyone and the defense plays solid, you have a chance to win.”
LEE’S SUMMIT POST 189 AUXILIARY OUTLAWS 6-5, RAYTOWN POST 596 5-16: Raytown rebounded with a 10-run third inning to gain a split in a Fifth District doubleheader against the Outlaws at Raytown South Wednesday.
Vince Spilker Aaron Smith and Darius Hampton all hit home runs to spark Raytown. Spilker, Danny Apgar and John Smith each finished with three hits and Hampton, Aaron Smith, Chase Kuehl, Mike Lynch and Kyle Davis added two hits apiece to power Raytown (19-19, 8-6 Fifth District).
Cody Robinson earned the victory.
Raytown scored five runs in the second to erase a 3-0 deficit and sealed it with the 10-run third.
Raytown led 5-0 after three innings in the first game. Then the Outlaws (9-5, 8-2) rallied for three runs in both the fourth and sixth innings for the win.
Brad Phillips was the winning pitcher. Landon Fall and Austin Hill each homered for the Outlaws. Apgar homered for Post 596.
