Titans complete undefeated league title

Kelsey Ewert and Kirsten Vollmer made it easy for Lee’s Summit West to complete a banner 18-4 regular season and 10-0 undefeated Suburban Small Six record.
Each scored three goals as the Titans pounded Excelsior Springs 10-0 Friday. Katie Davis had one goal and four assists, Alex Katzfey added a goal and Allison Gochenour and Jessie Satterfield each contributed one goal and two assists.
Goalkeepers Rachel Wilson and Kate Dittman combined for four saves for the shutout in the game stopped in the 67th minute because of the 10-goal mercy rule.
“That wraps up conference undefeated,” West coach Todd Krey said. “We are pleased with the season and ready to go into district play.”
The junior varsity game also resulted in a 10-0 West rout.
Lee’s Summit West hosts the Class 2 District 13 Tournament and will meet Grandview in the first round at 1 p.m. Saturday. The winner faces second-seeded Lee’s Summit in the semifinals at 5 p.m. Monday.
