The Raytown High School football team’s first playoff appearance since 1988 didn’t last very long.
Nixa rolled up 260 yards rushing and raced to a 42-0 lead on the way to a 48-12 Class 5 regional victory Wednesday night.
Nixa (8-3) scored on its first six possessions on the way to a 35-0 halftime lead.
The Eagles held the Blue Jays to 144 total yards. Raytown didn’t pass midfield until the third quarter, but added a pair of late touchdowns.
Nixa’s Jordan Keeney rushed for 115 yards in the first half on his way to 134 total. He also scored three touchdowns.
Nixa advances to meet Camdenton (7-3) in Monday’s sectional. Raytown finished 3-8.
