Truman volleyball player Taryn Nash was one of 10 female finalists and 20 overall in the state of Missouri up for the Wendy’s High School Heisman announced Monday.
Nash finished her four-year career at Truman by becoming just the fourth player in state history to record 2,000 career assists and finished in the top 10 in the state for career aces.
Megan Yohe of Liberty High School and Jason Blum of Valle High School in Ste. Genevieve were the Missouri winners of the award. Yohe and Blum were chosen from over 50,000 applicants, surviving rounds that narrowed contenders to 10,000 and then to Missouri’s respected group of state finalists, including Nash.
Created in 1994 in partnership with the Heisman Memorial Trust, the Wendy’s High School Heisman has recognized students for 16 years. Yohe and Blum will compete against winners from other states for a chance to be named one of 12 national finalists, who will travel to New York City to participate in the Heisman weekend festivities and awards ceremony on Dec. 11.
