Liberty, MO —
Despite a loss, the Blue Springs girls soccer team gave Suburban Big Seven champion Liberty a fight.
The Wildcats gave up two second-half goals in a 2-0 loss to the host Blue Jays Friday.
The final goal came in the 75th minute.
“In my mind, this was an excellent game,” Blue Springs coach Doug McLagan said. “You take away that last goal, and it’s a 1-nil game and, in my mind, that’s the best team in the area.”
Danielle Bennefeld made 16 saves in goal to keep the Wildcats (10-8, 8-4 Big Seven) in the game.
